What Happened to the show... PDF Print E-mail

Hey Folks,

Eric asked me to share this letter with all of you. This was written in response to an email sent to Eric by one of the viewers:

Hey Pablo,

I decided to put the show on hold for a while, perhaps and most likely, indefinitely.  Bobby and I weren't getting enough money from donations to really do the show.  I was going deeper and deeper into debt, and the person that I sold the hookah lounge to is now going under.  So the money was causing a lot of stress.  We were at the point where we didn't even have much to eat and sometimes were sleeping on the floor at the bus station.

The money crunch increased the stress, which started taking a toll on our friendship.  Soon we were fighting and getting on each other's nerves a bit too much.  It was actually starting to threaten our friendship!!

On top of that I started going through some huge value changes.
Realizing that I needed to pay off my debts, spend some more time with family, and work on my health a bit more (the stress, and having to eat nothing but junk food while in the bus stations with no money, started to take a toll on my health and energy, including the lack of
sleep.)

One of the hardest things for us to face was that different people had promised us either tech support, or financial support that just wasn't there at the end of the day.  Bobby and I took a pretty big risk with our finances and personal lives based on the faith that these promises would be kept, so when they didn't not only were we out of luck with the risk that we had taken, but we also felt pretty let down.

I went for as long  as I could, as hard as I could, but eventually all of these things came together and forced me to realize that I was no longer having fun and enjoying the fact that I was traveling.  It was my decision to head home and re-group, not Bobby's.  He probably would have been willing to keep going had I not decided to call it quits.

There is nothing that I want to see more then for CS to grow and expand.  I really believe that as different cultures get to know each other in a real way that the odds of war will go way down, and hopefully my future son or grandson wont have to go through the same experiences that I did.  That is the dream.  It's hard to admit but there are probably people that would be better suited to do a CS show, then I was, at that point in time.

I'm glad that you wrote me this letter, because I owe the viewers of the show an explanation.  Tom, who was running our web site, requested that I write an explanation letter so that he could post it on the site for our viewers.  This whole time I've been procrastinating because it's taken me a long time to untangle all of my emotions and feelings on this subject.  Just now is the first time that I feel that I've really been able to get all of this out.  So I'm going to forward this letter on to Tom and see if he wants to post it on the site for others to read.

So thanks for taking the time to check up on us!!  You are the first fan that has written me personally about it.

Much love to you and everyone else that shares in our dreams of a peaceful world,

Eric

Thanks everyone for your support of the show.

Tom
